Music Therapy in Schools
Jammin Jenn Music Therapy is currently contracted with more than 20 schools in the state of New Jersey (both Public and Private) to bring group Music Therapy sessions to the classroom. Our Music Therapists provide services to classes ranging from Preschool all the way up to High School; including integrated classrooms as well as self-contained.
Our Music Therapists do not take the place of the Music Teachers. We do not strictly teach music. Rather, we use music as a tool to work on group goals that need improvement. These goals range from social/peer, interaction, turn taking, expressive language, gross/fine motor skills, and motor planning. Music can be highly motivating, and our students have fun while improving in these areas. Our Music Therapists also work closely with the teachers to bring in concepts and themes from their curriculum to aid in learning through music and increase cognition.

Testimonials
“Jammin Jenn comes into our school once a week to help engage our students with her music. My classroom consists of special education students who need a lot of positive reinforcement. She always has lessons that engage in learning while incorporating music. The students are always so excited to see her when she comes in weekly and she is always happy and motivating to our students' needs. I recommend Jammin Jenn and her program. My students love her and have learned so much while learning and having the most fun!”

“We have been honored and blessed to work with Jammin Jenn in our school district for almost 10 years. She originally started with us in our program for students with Autism, but we quickly saw that she was highly skilled and had an extraordinary gift of connecting with all children through her music, regardless of their abilities. She now works with all of our preschool classrooms in addition to our classrooms with our most vulnerable learners throughout the district, and the successes that have occurred during her music sessions have been incredible to see in person. Jenn brings tremendous creativity, high energy, and a therapeutic purpose to each session. Her music props are always connected to a theme and the students are enthralled when she's here. She effortlessly creates long-lasting connections with each student, and they're buzzing with excitement each Thursday when she comes. It's often hard to tell who's more excited to see her- the students, or the staff!”
“Jammin' Jenn does a fantastic job of creating music sessions that engage students of all abilities, introducing students to music concepts like rhythm, tempo, and melody in a fun way.”
“We all love "Jammin' Jenn" Day in this classroom! She does an outstanding job incorporating academic, motor, and social skills into songs that engage students of all abilities!”
“Dana is doing a great job. She is fun and energetic, knows our students well and caters to their abilities. They also have been having fun with the different props and learning activities Dayna has been doing. Our students love music and look forward to it each week.”
“The music therapy class is a great asset to our program. Melinda is always well prepared and her sessions are energetic, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. I know the students and I look forward to our music therapy class each week.”
“My students absolutely love Music Therapy. It is their favorite class. One of my students is even taking individual classes. We are so thankful for this class!”
“My class continues to have an excellent experience with Donna! She has a happy, encouraging personality and a beautiful voice! She has made a connection with every child in my class and incorporates their interests into sessions. I really love how she gives EVERY student a chance to participate, and gets me and my paras involved as well! She does new things each week while also incorporating the students’ favorites. Additionally, Donna has done a very good job maintaining attention, and gently redirecting student behavior when needed. We look forward to our Fridays with Donna and I couldn’t be more pleased with how things are going.”
“We adore Ms. Donna!! She always comes in with something creative and new each week. She is so flexible and understanding with my class, that can be a little crazy sometimes, especially when they have a hard time sitting for the long period of time. She always accommodates to songs my students enjoy and collaborates for what I think they will like. We look forward to her coming in every Tuesday “
“We love when Miss Nicki comes. My kiddos are always engaged. I love that she is versed in the verbal cues we use with our students. You can really tell she has a passion for what she does”
“Donna has been doing a FABULOUS job so far! She has a lot of energy and warmth. I really love the way she makes sure to interact with each and every student throughout the sessions. She has good command of the students and when needed, she is able to pivot her plans based on students’ mood and behavior. She also makes sure to get the adults involved, which is great! Donna has certainly exceeded my expectations so far.”
"Your music program has been wonderful and it truly has been an amazing addition to our schedule. Miss Melinda has been nothing short of but kind, patient, adaptive, energetic, and flexible. Her classes allow students to engage in a variety of ways, even those who struggle behaviorally are participating enthusiastically. Melinda is very effective in matching our weekly themes/concepts with her song choices and this has allowed students to retain information more effectively. She promotes confidence in our young ones and I'm not sure who looks forward more to her arrival, the teachers or the students. This program has allowed our students with developmental delays to grow and improve in many areas. I honestly do not have any negative feedback to give, it has been so fun to see students improve their expressive language through your music program. "
